Federal Judge Bates was looking forward to fishing with Tobacco Jones. First, he had to stop off in Muletown to finish the murdertrial of Mary Helper. But there were people who wanted the trial stopped, and a masked killer had been hired to shoot down Bates before he arrived in town.
