Even though his cousins and brother were all finding their forever and ever, Roan was in no hurry to follow in their footsteps. He was fine being single, working the ranch, and hanging out with his dog. Life was good, and he saw no reason to change it.

But when his high school girlfriend returns to town to take over her grandfather’s rundown ranch, Roan can’t help but offer to help her. It was the neighborly thing to do. At least that’s what he kept telling himself.

Was it too late to rekindle their relationship? Does he want to? Roan didn’t have an answer to those questions. But working together to restore the old ranch would either be a catalyst for falling in love again or it would make Roan wish Valentina had never come home.

When troubled Tali comes to stay at the Double J, Gabriel finds himself in charge of keeping her in line. Tali, however, has no interest in behaving.

When Len’s sister-in-law asks for help with Tali, he tells her to send her to the ranch. Nothing like hard work, lots of fresh air, and good home cooking to turn a person around. But Len hasn’t seen Tali since his brother died. She’s not the sweet child he once knew.

Gabriel reluctantly takes on the job of taming Tali, but he isn’t nearly as optimistic about her rehabilitation as his Uncle Len is. All Tali wants is to go home, even though the only things waiting for her there are a loser boyfriend and a mother who has given up on her.

Penn had made it quite clear he wasn’t interested in a relationship. His focus was on other things, like completing a double major in three years. He was looking forward to returning to the ranch after graduation to take over the business side of running it.

Adeline was an equally talented student eager to join the corporate world. So when they met, they both knew the different paths they would take after graduation.

The plan to become dating friends seemed like a good idea. No expectations. No commitments. But could they stick to the plan? As those pesky feelings began to surface, it became increasingly difficult.
