Agnes Cape Breton Highlands Bride
(2026)(Book 29 in the National Park Brides series)
A novel by Nancy Fraser
Agnes MacDougall spent much of her youth dreaming about leaving Cape Breton Island. Like so many of her friends, she longed to see the big cities like Halifax, on the mainland. Or, better yet, the growing city of Toronto in far off Ontario.
After her father’s passing, rather than follow her dreams, she chose to stay close to her mother. As a recent graduate of Dalhousie University in mainland Antigonish, Agnes returns to Cape Breton to teach grade school. She also volunteers her time on her pet project having the beautiful Cape Breton Highlands land designated as a Canadian National Park.
Robert MacNeil lives with his two brothers on the family farm and splits his time between working the land in a remote area known as Meat Cove. With a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean right outside his window, he’s certain there’s no finer place on earth. In the spring, before farming begins in earnest, he fishes for lobster off the wharf in Pleasant Bay.
Locals in the area are looking to turn this idyllic paradise Robert calls home into a National Park, and with it hoards of tourists. He and his brothers are adamant about opposing their efforts.
When he and Agnes first meet, they immediately lock horns over the issue of the park development. Yet, the more he gets to know her, the more reluctant he is to argue.
Can an unexpected attraction turn to love? And with it, compromise?
Genre: Inspirational
