Sleigh Ride Together

(2016)
(The fifth book in the North Pole, Alaska series)
A Novella by

Bush pilot Ella Conway's niece writes an urgent letter to Santa. In it she begs him to convince North Pole's favorite son and two-time Iditarod Champion, Kody Lord, to complete her aunt Ella's training, thereby fulfilling Ella's late father's dream that she run "The Last Great Race" for him. But Santa needs to hurry, please, because the race is held the first Saturday of March, less than three weeks away.

Clara Goebel, leader of the Elves, a group that answers Santa's
letters, thinks it'll do still-grieving widower Kody and his faltering business good if he not only trains Ella but runs the race again as well.

After the death of his wife following the Iditarod, Kody swore he would
train only sled dogs, not people. When Ella arrives at Sled Dog Safari,
Kody prepares to send her packing . . . but seeing Ella interact with
her dogs touches something deep inside him, as does Ella herself.

While training for the race, Ella and Kody fall slowly in love both with
each other and North Pole in all its winter wonder. But when the time
comes for the race, Kody panics at the thought that the Alaskan
wilderness could take from him another woman he loves.

When Kody leaves her at the starting line, Ella fears she's seen the
last of him. Can she continue with their relationship knowing that everything she loves causes him pain?
