After Sara's friend Karen steals jewels from her stepbrother in a fit of pique, Sara agrees to help by returning them. She has been tricked, however, and Grant catches her. He punishes her by parading her as his fiancee in front of his old flame. Against all odds, Sara falls in love with him. When Grant is compromised by his old flame he insists that Sara marries him - but only for a year. What is she to do?
