(2027)(The sixth book in the Dr Jack Cuthbert Mystery series)
A novel by Allan Gaw
A mother's love, a mother's wrath . . .
A night at the theatre for Dr Jack Cuthbert proves to be the beginning of a baffling backstage murder investigation. There is no doubt who the victim is – a star of the most prestigious West End stages – but who would have wanted him dead and in such a brutal, theatrical way? The answer seems to lie in his past: the social clubs and music-hall circuits before the First World War. But where and when did the victim first meet his killer? It is up to Cuthbert to unravel the complex forensics of the case, and in a world where almost no one is as they first appear, the team at Scotland Yard must peel back the masks until they can discover the truth beneath.
