A novel by

Something strange is going on in the idyllic village of Asherby Cross...

Something that has transformed Maggie Ossian's golden, carefree friend Lilian into a haunted creature of midnight secrets and dark, seething passions.

No one else is truly aware of Lilian's odd behaviour - her mysterious nocturnal disappearances, her uncharacteristic activities - not even her handsome cousin Francis, whom Maggie has adored since childhood.

But when tragedy shakes the town, Maggie makes an even more shocking discovery - a discovery she dares reveal to no one... until an oddly familiar stranger appears in Asherby and Maggie finds herself quite alone, trapped in a web of intrigue.

It's up to Maggie to see if she can rescue her friend from a complicated tangle of lies and revenge, and restore Asherby Cross to its once peaceful life - but she is just one girl in the face of danger.

Romance and suspense blend in a haunting drama set in the nineteenth-century British countryside, as two former girlhood friends seek love, vengeance, and retribution for themselves.
