When Dorothy discovers that her favorite time of year - Christmas - is off the cards and with her husband's apparent reluctance to do anything about it, can Dorothy and Karl’s marriage be saved in time for Christmas?
Dorothy Wilmarth knows that living in New York City is bad for her health. Dorothy is not able to deal with the constant busyness of city life and the incessant intrusion from those around her.
Making a momentous decision, Dorothy sets off for Bell Point, nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains, a small rough and tumble wild west silver mining town where she plans on marrying Karl Braun, a local silversmith.
Dorothy finds the more relaxed country life good for her anxieties, that is, until she realizes that her favorite time of year, Christmas, is off the cards due to the local mine owners, Leroy and Aaron Millman, banning any festivities from happening.
Not only that but they simply will not allow any form of education or literature to be offered to the local residents!
Dorothy cannot abide the brothers’ bullyish attitude and makes it her mission to ensure that the festive season is honored, in the time-old tradition, along with a town library.
