It's 1903 ten years after his brothers death when Rob Berkeley returns to Berry Edge. His return brings memories that Faith Norman would rather forget. Every time he looks at his dead brothers fiance, Rob is reminded of the part he played in her bereavement and she does blame Rob for her spinsterhood. The resemblance he bears to his brother, though at first intolerable, becomes more welcome than painful. Its possible that Elizabeth and Rob may have one chance left for happiness . . .
