A Thanksgiving Full of Motives
(2026)(A book in the Good Chef Holiday Mystery series)
A novel by Elsie Grey
One extra Thanksgiving dinner. One missing guest. More motives than Lily can count.
Thanksgiving week has arrived in Pine Grove, and former NYPD homicide detective Lily Jane Good is busier than ever. Between The Good Chef’s holiday orders, the town’s Turkey Trot, and preparing meals for residents spending the day alone, Lily is looking forward to one quiet dinner with the people she loves.
Then a Pine Grove resident calls to report that she received two Thanksgiving meals.
The extra dinner belongs to Jude Salazar, a retired insurance agent recovering from knee surgery. When Lily and Detective Lance Phillips deliver the misplaced meal, they discover Jude dead in his home office. Someone deliberately covered his name and address on the bag, ensuring that no volunteer would visit his house until it was too late.
Jude had recently uncovered an insurance scheme that left several local businesses without the coverage they had paid for. His former partner, an angry client, and a resentful relative all had reasons to keep him quiet.
As Lily follows the trail of false policies and carefully timed alibis, another mystery arrives at her door. A woman carrying an old photograph and long-hidden letters claims to be the cousin Lily never knew she had.
With Thanksgiving dinner waiting and a killer hiding among familiar faces, Lily must uncover the truth before someone else’s place at the table is left empty.
A Thanksgiving Full of Motives is a clean culinary cozy mystery filled with Oregon Coast charm, comforting food, family discoveries, and a holiday murder in Pine Grove.
Genre: Mystery
