Dead on Arrival

Widowed suddenly at 24 by her husband Horace's motorcycle accident, Maggie Murphy has no money, no insurance, and household bills are due. She gets a part-time job which turns into full-time when she finds the mutilated body of the man she was hired to replace. Trying to fit her bills into her paycheck, Horace's spirit is hovering trying to tell her his death was dead wrong and there is an instant and mutual attraction between Maggie and Joe Driver, the handsome policeman investigating the body she found. Clues are pursued by Maggie and Joe; a former slave who claims to be over a hundred; co-worker Fatima (AKA Queen Esther Johnson); and Aunt Myrtle who keeps a sharp eye on Maggie's social life. It's a merry souther romp with the Memphis Police Dept., friends, and the FBI all trying to find out 'who all done what?'
