Frankenstein

(1995)
A novel by

Children's Literature - Kathleen Karr
The most amazing thing about this retelling of the horror classic is that nowhere in the body of the book is a credit given to Mary Shelley, its creator. Perhaps her ghost will be appeased, though, because she might not wish to be associated with the liberties taken. This is a Frankenstein as seen through Hollywood, not Shelley. Romance and gore are played up over the moral quandaries of the original, and entire new plot elements have been added. The story and illustrations are exciting, but the end result is Grant, not Shelley.
