Charity-Nova Evans has spent six years becoming someone the world finds easier to love. After growing up plus-sized in Hollyridge, South Carolina, where classmates cruelly nicknamed her ‘Supernova,’ she fled the small town after her mother’s death, lost 150 pounds, built a glittering fitness empire in Los Angeles, and quietly left Nova behind.

But beneath the polished routines, sponsored workouts, and picture-perfect discipline, Charity’s relationship with food and exercise has become anything but peaceful, prompting her therapist to recommend a dietitian.

Just days before Christmas, her father is injured in a car accident, sending Charity back to the hometown she swore she had outgrown. Hollyridge is still all twinkle lights, nosy neighbors, over-the-top holiday traditions, and memories tucked around every corner. And, of course, the one local dietitian who specializes in food relationships happens to be Israel Black, her childhood best friend.

Israel hasn’t seen Charity in six years, but he never forgot Nova. As the town pulls them into tree lightings, off-key caroling, gingerbread competitions, holiday markets, ice skating, and a once-in-a-decade Christmas snowstorm, old feelings begin thawing right alongside Charity’s carefully frozen heart.

Israel remembers the girl she has spent years trying to erase, and the closer they grow, the harder it becomes for Charity to believe she ever had to become someone else to be worthy of love.
