Violent Midnight

When Anthony Slade, the Yard's popular Commander of X2, and his chief assistant, Inspector John Roxby, hear a gunshot at Shaylings Corfe around midnight it is the beginning of a mystery involving the lovely Samantha Carstairs and Mike Westwood, a journalist. But how does the disappearance of influential Gilbert Trusgrave tie in? Slade and Roxby have to travel far before digging into quite a few secrets and reaching a dramatic showdown.
