Awakening

(2020)
(Book 23 in the Into the Black series)
A Novella by

Reports are coming in of spatial disturbances all throughout Known Space, but nowhere are these disturbances so obvious or frequent as in the systems of Coldana and Sol. On opposite sides of Known Space, there should be nothing connecting the two systems, and yet the disturbances were felt first there, and they appear to be growing stronger. What could this mean for the people of the galaxy?

Using information gained from the relics and ruins left behind by ancient aliens who have long since vanished, the scientists of the Black Star Company have come to disturbing conclusions about the distortions. If they are right, then things could be building to an irreversible change. As the distortions build, Black Star reaches out to the Terran Empire, hoping to find some way to prevent a catastrophe. But will they be in time?
