The X'thari threat has been contained, for now, though new planets have been found with the insectlike creatures. Relations between star nations are generally better than they have been in quite a while. Several areas of space that had been overrun by pirates are now all but free from their taint. But the universe in the game world of Dreams Amongst the Stars is not at rest.
Having had time to rest and recover their minimal losses from the Yathru-Black Star corporate war, the Black Star Company finds itself looking to its interests, and its debts. One debt in particular sticks out. The enigmatic chimeras of Shadowgate attacked the Black Star CEO, Mirikon Mollen, in an attempt to subvert the company to their own ends. That kind of insult demands repayment. And Black Star always pays its debts.
But the forces of Shadowgate are not the only powers moving in the darkness between the stars, and a new crisis may be on the horizon.
