The Whitby Abbey Murders
(2027)(Book 20 in the Camille Divine Murder Mystery series)
A novel by Andrea Hicks
THE WHITBY ABBEY MURDERSWhitby, 1927.
Some legends refuse to stay buried...
Camille Divine has learned to trust her instincts.
They have led her into danger before.
Now they are telling her something impossible.
The man her husband is hunting may already be hiding in plain sight.
Chief Inspector Richard Owen has travelled to Yorkshire on urgent government business. His quarry is a shadowy figure known only as Mr Whitby, the elusive mastermind behind a conspiracy that siphoned public funds and threatened the nation’s stability. His followers speak of him in whispers. No one knows his true identity.
Camille believes she does.
But before she can prove it, a wealthy visitor is found dead beneath the ruins of Whitby Abbey.
The police are quick to dismiss the death.
Camille is not.
When a second body is discovered, and rumours of ghostly monks, ancient curses, and long-buried secrets sweep through the town, she finds herself drawn into a mystery far darker than local superstition.
While others dismiss her concerns, Camille follows the evidence wherever it leads, from windswept cliffs and hidden smugglers’ tunnels to forgotten manuscripts and the grand homes of Whitby’s most powerful families.
The deeper she digs, the more convinced she becomes that the murders are connected to the very man Richard is searching for.
And someone is watching her.
Someone who knows what she suspects.
Someone who will kill to protect the truth.
As myth, murder, and political conspiracy collide beneath the shadow of Whitby Abbey, Camille must rely on her courage, intelligence, and determination to uncover a killer before another life is lost.
Possibly her own.
The Whitby Abbey Murders is an atmospheric Jazz Age mystery filled with Gothic intrigue, unforgettable characters, ingenious twists, and a heroine who refuses to be confined by the expectations of the era.
Perfect for readers who love Agatha Christie, atmospheric British mysteries, and strong women who solve crimes on their own terms.
