The Longman Girl

When her father loses his fortune, Sophie Longman must leave her Oxford school. On the coach journey home she makes the acquaintance of a handsome young student called Alexander, who is off to fight Napoleon. Eight years pass before their paths cross again. Alexander is now Major Beecham, whilst Sophie is still running her father's house. Sophie knows that Alexander is far above her rank - a barrier to any hopes of a future with the man she secretly loves.
