A novel by

Pinkerton agent, Levi Hill, is called to investigate a series of abductions and murders of young girls in and around Lander, Wyoming. He discovers that most of the townspeople have already decided on the guilty party without a trial, leaving Levi to stop a lynching. He must then find the evidence to either prove that the townspeople were right, or that someone else is the culprit and they had just picked an "easy target."

From the back cover:
His speech was slurred, his eyes wide with terror. He wasn’t even aware of the trickle of drool from the corner of his mouth. He wasn’t capable of even understanding the terrible crimes of which he had been accused. He couldn’t comprehend why anyone would think he had done such things. He was aware only of the rough rope around his neck and the hatred of the men who were about to hang him.
Only one man stood between the simple-minded victim and certain death. Pinkerton range detective Levi Hill must find out who was committing the heinous crimes around Lander, while protecting the one everyone seemed determined to blame, just because he was an easy target.

Levi's sharp wit, lightening fast gun, and sense of moral responsibility keep him on track in the face of formidable opposition.
