After upsetting King Rolem's knights on the Free River, Finster the sorcerer and Moth the barbarian take to the rowdy river city Rayland and shack up with one of the kings former ravishing concubines, Dizon. It is there that Finster battles to control the Founders Stone, his drinking and the unpredictable Moth. Wanting to remain discrete, Finster and Dizon end up hunting down Moth who vanishes into the twisting streets. To Finster's fury, the savage winds up center stage of the most exciting show in town called the Gauntlet. It is there, to the thrill of the crowd, Moth squares off faces off against the most deadly obstacles and fatal challenges of all that no one has lived to finish in over one hundred years.
Meanwhile, an angry King Rolem, hellbent of aquiring the Founders Stone and Rings of Power, sends out the most deadly executioners of all called the Circle. Led by the guild master, Alexandria, a plan it hatched to kill Finster and Moth once and for all.
