The Color of Emily's Eyes

(2025)
A novel by

Nerdy teenage violist Emily Kincannon and high school jock Ray Altieri ended up as chemistry lab partners, but that was the only chemistry they ever had. Sure, Ray kept Emily from getting beaten up by the school bully, and Emily's tutoring saved Ray from flunking, but that was it.
Years later, when Emily, now a successful musician in the Midwest Symphony Orchestra, needs help from Ray, who is a detective in the Chicago police department, they establish the friendship they never had in high school. It's obvious to everyone who knows them that they belong together, but Emily still sees herself as a gawky girl, while Ray thinks she's now way out of his class. Fortunately, thanks to Ray's matchmaking partner, Emily's next-door neighbor, and the musicians of the orchestra, they manage to overcome their mental obstructions and true love wins out.
In a romance, that would be the end of the story. But this is a story about all kinds of love, and for Emily and Ray, it's only the beginning.
