Bay Renity has been deemed a traitor to the Angels Uncaged. The rebellion group has locked her away as a prisoner in their impenetrable headquarters. She is trapped, and all available warriors have been called to battle Crine Proft's army of mindless soldiers, who are attempting to overtake the city of Venah. Proft has successfully completed his programming, and in every city he overtakes, individuals' minds are being held hostage and their memories erased so that they are unable to make their own decisions. Meanwhile, Bay debates whether rebel warrior Kass Rush will come to her rescue, or if something terrible has detained him. She still holds out hope that the Angels Uncaged has triumphed over Proft, and freedoms can be restored. But with every passing hour, her confidence diminishes. It is quite possible that she may die as a prisoner in Venah's headquarters, or, the enemy may finally break through and take her captive. If Crine Proft's son, Rysz Brickfall, succeeds in apprehending her, she could be used as a weapon against her own cause. Bay will finally catch hold of truths that have evaded her, and she will come to terms with a sacrifice she must make on behalf of the rebellion.
