Arya has absolutely no idea what she's doing when it comes to her new teaching job. Yes, she can paint. No, she hasn't got the faintest idea how to teach teenagers art. When she's assigned a mentor that is burned out and exceptionally unhelpful, Sam Turner steps up. The former teacher turned librarian immediately volunteers to show her the ropes. He's captivated by the socially anxious empath, and she's falling fast for his heart of gold wrapped in bookishness. The problem? The football coach also has his eyes set on Arya. When Coach D's bid to be Arya's mentor gets rejected in favor of Sam, the coach makes a complaint to make sure that mentors and mentees are not permitted to engage in any sort of romantic relationship. Mentorships between beginning teachers and veteran teachers last three years, and Sam isn't willing to be a bad influence and ask Arya to break the rules for his benefit. He also isn't willing to pass her over to Coach D for whatever subpar mentorship the coach might conduct. Arya is stuck in a will-he-won't-he purgatory, unaware of the exact situation Sam has found himself in.
