Dungeons were never the enemy. They were the only thing keeping the world alive.

Book 5 of the Bedrock series. The finale.

The machine is active. Deep beneath the continental fault lines, the network of dungeon cores -- planted millennia ago by an intelligence that predates human civilization -- has begun its primary function. The cores are a geological life-support system, managing the planet's deep mana circulation. The feral cores were never broken. They were cores that lost their sapience and reverted to autonomous mode, running containment protocols without guidance. Mindlessly consuming because it was the only directive left.

Marcus Cole is not an anomaly. He is what cores were supposed to be: a thinking manager of a planetary system.

But the system is failing. Millennia of degraded operation have destabilized the deep mana flows. Earthquakes. Mana eruptions. Surface devastation threatening every settlement on the continent. The geological upheaval is accelerating, and the timeline for catastrophic failure is measured in weeks, not years.

The only solution is full restoration. Every sapient core working in coordination, managed by minds that understand both the system's purpose and the human world above it. Marcus must unite his growing alliance of thinking dungeons -- Echo, the three new cores, and others still awakening. He must convince a Guild that has spent centuries killing cores that dungeons are essential infrastructure. He must coordinate planetary-scale restoration while Skrit, now evolved into something unprecedented, guards the network's most vulnerable nodes.

And he must do all of it while Kael's faction argues that the safest path is to destroy every core and let humanity take its chances without the machine.

Marcus Cole built bridges. Then he built a dungeon. Then he built an alliance. Now he has to build a future -- for dungeons, for humanity, and for a world that doesn't know it's standing on the thing keeping it alive.
