Buckland Abbey began as a Cistercian monastery and after the dissolution, became the home of two of the greatest seaman of the Elizabethan age, Richard Grenville and Francis Drake. This book describes the change in its history and its more recent tranquil story in the hands of Drake's descendents. It also illustrates its recent transformation by the National Trust and Plymouth City Art Gallery into a display for Drake relics, including Drake's Drum.
