Even before Tel can get home from removing the usurper from the empire’s throne, Princess Adelina tasks him with preparing to deal with the raids out of the east hills. When he finally does get home, the army companies received from the noble fiefs are causing problems instead of conducting the training needed to help him purge the eastern hills of the squatters currently living there.
When his new companies are finally trained enough to aid in clearing the east hills, they are weeks behind Tel’s schedule. He goes anyway, even though that could place him as much as a thousand miles from his county when the Párshans start their main invasion.
Even if he repels the massive invasion he knows is coming his way, Tel doesn’t have enough soldiers to repel the even larger invasion coming to the opposite end of the Kirlon Empire. He just finished putting Empress Menna on her throne. Tel would hate to see her lose it less than a year after he put forth that effort.
If all that isn’t enough, Tel soon learns his class has put even more responsibilities on him he had no awareness of.
