My life disappeared.

I stepped off the plane, and my car was gone. It took me a while to get home, except a lady was already in it, claiming to be me. I couldn’t elbow my way past her, but even the photos on the foyer wall were of her. At least I got Sammy, my French Bulldog, from the Pet Palace. But she and I are homeless now, somehow.
The police didn’t believe me, since their systems don’t show my face or fingerprints along with my name, and the bank agrees. The crazy-lady looks they give prove I’m going to have to solve this on my own. Except, I get nowhere fast. It’s tough to hire a private investigator when you don’t have a penny to your name. That leaves three shady characters to choose from, and two of them laugh in my face.
I don’t hold out much hope for the third, but I’m desperate, and this backwoods country boy is my only hope.
