Sometimes the heart knows the way before the head catches up.
Sophie has built a life for herself in Alice Springs. She loves her work with Centralian Tours, the freedom of living in the Red Centre, and the people who have become part of her world. Her carefully constructed comfort zone is threatened when chopper pilot Mark Kennedy comes into her life.
She didn’t plan on getting close to Mark, but it turns out that Mark has plans of his own—and his future may take him far from Alice Springs. Her track record with men isn’t good. She has always been on the losing end. Evan even favoured his camels over her. Better to focus on her new job and her hobby farm instead. There, she’s in control. She feeds the animals, tends to their needs, and in return, they give her their loyalty.
But there is another question Sophie can no longer ignore. Who is her older sister, Alison, and why was she given up for adoption? And if Sophie reaches out to the sister whose existence has recently been revealed, will she be rejected again?
Her search for answers takes her from Alice Springs to Sydney, where she discovers that finding a sister may bring something else into her life—something she never expected.
