The Scullery Maid's Salvation

Life in the London Victorian slum was filled with danger, especially for the young. Like so many others, Ebba Sheehan would learn to fight hard to survive.

Ebba was an unwanted child, born to a mother lacking any maternal interest and an aggressive drunk of a father.

She is forced to look after herself at a tender age. She learns quickly that dark dangers stalk the slums and that no-one is safe.

Even when she finds work as a scullery maid a new peril emerges.

With frequent betrayals from those she meets and grinding poverty dragging her down, Ebba knows she has a long battle ahead. But at times she questions if she has the will to survive.
