An abstract expressionist landscape painter who has achieved fame in his art and notoriety in his tempestuous un-private life, Roth has reached his last "sane" day, perhaps the last day of his life. High on a lethal cocktail of drugs and alcohol, he spends the day confronting himself and his past.
