Murder at Bramhurst Book Club
(2027)(The fifth book in the Canterbury Mystery series)
A novel by Izzie Harper
When murder imitates art, the truth is stranger than fiction.
It’s mid-winter in Bramhurst, and the Hop Picker’s Rest is packed with locals enjoying the open fire, home cooked food, and a friendly welcome.
The village book group is hosting bestselling crime author Frank P Mercer. But halfway through the meeting, a phone call draws Frank out onto the front terrace. Seconds later, a muffled crack shatters the evening.
Ellie and Sylvia watch through the window as the author drops dead onto the paving. Dashing outside, Ellie catches the fleeting flare of taillights disappearing down the dark lane.
The irony isn’t lost on anyone: Frank’s latest murder mystery centres on an author shot dead at a book group by his wife’s secret lover. But in real life, Frank has a devoted wife, and his sister is at the book club.
With murder imitating art, Ellie and Sylvia must untangle a web of real-world grudges, a secret engagement, and attempted blackmail. Can they unmask the killer before another chapter closes on one of their own?
Genre: Cozy Mystery
