James and his allies have struck a telling blow against the Holy Empire, successfully raiding one of their most well defended fortresses, while simultaneously stealing not just one, but two of their powerful warships. The attack has put the empire on the back foot for the time being, but they won’t stay that way for long. Knowing this, the einherjar has redoubled his efforts to fortify his own lands, while working to unify his people and prepare for the enemy’s inevitable invasion.
Hel’s Champion isn’t the only one with plans, however. Believing that their noble house will need all of the support that it can get, his first wife, Hrein, has continued to build the Order of the Arbiter. Recruiting talented women to their banner hasn’t been quick or easy, but the valkyrie is determined to see it done.
Interwoven with all of this, is the einherjar’s never ending pursuit of personal strength. After some surprising encounters with faces new and old, Hel’s Champion discovers paths to power that he never would have imagined. Will these new methods lead him to the destination that he seeks? Or will he lose himself in the process?
