"On Warwick is the product of Jane Holland's year as Warwick's Poet Laureate. It's not unusual for local laureates to write poems about major landmarks of the area but the main poem in the collection, 'On Warwick Castle' - described in David Morley's foreword as Holland's "modernist piece de resistance" - is probably one of the more ambitious works of public poetry generated through a local laureateship. " David Floyd, writing in Sphinx.

On Warwick Castle is the 2013 digital edition of Jane Holland's pamphlet On Warwick, published by Nine Arches Press in 2008. It contains these selected poems from that publication: 'On Warwick Castle', 'On the Renovations to Leamington Spa Station 2008', and 'Leamophants'.

In 2007-8, Jane Holland was Warwick Poet Laureate. As part of her laureateship, she created the long poem 'On Warwick Castle', celebrating the history of Warwick Castle and the people who have lived and worked within its walls, from its earliest settlement to the present day.

'On the Renovations at Leamington Spa Station 2008' was commissioned by Chiltern Railways. 'Leamophants' remembers the unusual history of elephants in the Warwickshire town so popular during the Regency period, Leamington Spa. It was commissioned as part of the 2008 Warwick Laureateship.

This edition contains the 2008 Foreword by celebrated poet, ecologist and Professor of Creative Writing at Warwick University, David Morley.

Fiona Sampson, former editor of Poetry Review, has described Jane Holland as "a true craftswoman, a supple and graceful thinker with an effortless grasp of line, at the heart of the English lyric tradition."
