Jasmin 'Iolani Hakes recommends

Now Then (2026)
Morgan Radford
"In Now Then, Morgan Radford does the impossible, turning a foreign uprising into a revelatory portrayal of how the tendrils of history intertwine with our present, lurking in the shadowed halls that guide us toward our future. An arresting, deeply intimate exploration of the workings of the human heart, this debut will leave you questioning everything you think you know about who you are."

Kaua'i Storm (2025)
(Ranger Makalani Pahukula Mystery, book 1)
Tori Eldridge
"Tori Eldridge has taken the genre to another level. This is a story that leads you to the jagged edge of Kauai's most treacherous cliffs and dares you to jump off. I was consumed."
