Georgina travels across India with her father, Dr Hanley, who is in charge of a World Health team. At a party she meets Martin Rutherford, who is writing a book on the wildlife of the country, and agrees to work for him while his secretary is delayed in England. Georgina realises she is falling in love with Martin and when Elaine, his secretary, arrives unexpectedly it seems the last straw. However, Georgina is not a girl to give up easily.
