When retired literature professor Emily Richards and her sheriff husband, Luke, welcome a small women’s monastery to the property next door to Windy Corner, they anticipate blessings. But instead, the nuns’ slow demolition of the derelict house on the property awakens an old curse—the ghost of a woman who died tragically there over a century before. The youngest of the novices, who has been deeply traumatized by past events, seems to be the ghost’s particular target. Meanwhile, the building work is plagued by a series of accidents and by opposition from a party in the town. When a young workman falls to his death, Emily must confront the possibility that her favorite novice may be responsible.
