Transported halfway across the galaxy, Marcus has been left to fend for himself on an ancient, long-abandoned world a rediscovered labyrinth planet. He has only two goals; to lay claim to the world in the name of humanity’s new extraterrestrial overseers by reaching the core of the facility within, and to scavenge as much lost Precursor technology as he can along the way.
But he’s not alone. Five other aliens have also been sent down to the surface, each of them representing their own galactic factions in the age-old tradition of the Labyrinth Trial and each one is competing for the same prize that Marcus is.
Every alien artifact, rare mineral or unknown life form encountered in the labyrinth even something as innocuous as a box of Precursor paperclips is a potential bartering chip, allowing Marcus and the other contenders to trade for new equipment to let them progress further into the depths of the planet or defend themselves from the hostile creatures that dwell within. For any chance of making it back home intact, the six of them will need to put aside their differences and combine their talents in order to survive the network of infested caves, forgotten ruins and deserted factories that lie buried deep beneath the planet’s surface.
Will wits, luck and good old human grit be enough to see Marcus through to the end of the trial, or will the mysteries of the labyrinth planet claim his life?
