I’d send my mama to voicemail when she called from her fancy life in Chicago. Mostly, I’d wait for Deke to get through college and come back to me and the life we’d build together. I didn’t realize how suddenly plans can change.

Got a little carried away while writing. Then I decided I wanted a bonus epilogue for y’all—and what do you know? Uh oh. Same thing happened. Now we have three books to binge.
