Erica and her younger sister Nancy live in the village of St Agnes on Rowansdale. Each year the village holds events to celebrate the longest day of summer, and Erica is especially looking forward to the dance. The death of one of the elderly organisers threatens to cast a shadow over the celebrations, but for Erica every cloud has a silver lining.
