A rip-roaring second Western adventure in a new series from acclaimed Scott Harris!

On the way to Omaha, looking for his next detective job, someone takes a potshot at Dakota Parker, just missing him and grazing his head. Not aware of anyone wanting him dead (at least, not just then), he figures it was a case of mistaken identity, but he’s not about to forgive the error easily.

Wanting a rest and to nurse the injury to his head, he stops in River’s Bend and finds himself at Cooper’s Place, one of two saloons in town. Unfortunately, there’s not much to drink there. Cooper’s Place has been targeted by Frank Grimes, the underhanded owner of the Black Star, who wants all the business for himself and has been stealing the supply wagons meant for Cooper''s Place. His gunhands, while a bit inept, are intimidating and terrorizing the locals in an effort to get Coop to sell out.

With the help of Marshal Jake Timber, who has come to Coop’s aid, Dakota and the other men form a plan to set Frank Grimes straight and bring calm back to River’s Bend.
