A.B. ‘Fytz’ Fytzpatrick is a man on a mission, it’s just that he has no idea what that mission is.

After being passed over for a promotion that he mistakenly thinks he deserved, Fytz quits his job as a college journalism professor, buys a 45-year-old RV and heads out across the country, picking up a stray dog, an attorney and a new attitude along the way.

The further he gets from California, his old life and the woman who dumped him—for many of the same reasons he was bad at his job, the better he feels. As the miles roll by, he slowly peels back the layers of indifference and excuses that have held him back from ever becoming the journalist he had dreamed of becoming. He rediscovers love, first with rock ‘n roll music, then with an abandoned dog he adopts and names Brock and finally with a brilliant and beautiful attorney who is a passionate advocate for the oceans.

Last he rediscovers a passion of his own--small-town newspapers and big stories. Fytz makes a another spur of the moment, life changing decision, but, this time with a smile on his face and his faithful dog by his side.
