Em Baumgardner's words have a mind of their own and typically land about three seconds before her brain kicks in. Her twin sister Jax claims it’s because she has limited brain cells to rub together and when they find a way, it’s like a hummingbird on meth. All over the place and faster than you’d think. A hummingbird’s heart can beat 1200 times in a minute. Lately, not much is causing Em’s heart to thump faster.
At least until she screwed up, may have destroyed a man’s life and reputation, and had the unfortunate luck to come to the attention of Jeremy. A man that is trying hard to make her into his arch nemesis and maybe demolish everything she holds dear.
That’s not being dramatic, that’s being honest with herself about just how much power that guy has in her town, her world, and maybe her universe. The fact that he’s more tempting than four scoops of triple chocolate indulgence and is good to kids, really shouldn’t matter.
But it does.
All she has to do now is rebuild her professional life, then find a personal life, then maybe balance the universe and reverse her karma, and she’s good to go.
Where? She hasn’t worked that out yet. But she will. Unless Jax is right, and nobody can hide from the mistakes they make on the internet.
