This is NOT a cookbook. It has about 20 recipes scattered throughout its 80 pages. Susan Hill gives numerous menu and food "hints" and suggestions, but recipes for most of the lovingly described dishes are not given. A recipe is given for damson and sloe gin, which might be hard to make in the US, while no recipe is included for marmalade or winter pudding, etc., etc. The pictures are charming and the text extolls the joys of English seasonal and holiday eating and being in the English countryside.
