Evelyn’s dream had always been to educate children.

It was a dream nurtured and encouraged by the owner of the orphanage where she’d spent most of her life.

But Evelyn’s dream wasn’t to teach at a city school—She yearned to spend the next stage of her life in the Wild West, teaching children who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn.

When she hears about a wagon train headed to Oregon City, and the offer to be escorted is extended, Evelyn eagerly accepts.

However, there is a problem…A big one…The company owners, who have formed and manage the wagon train, will not allow any woman over the age of sixteen to travel if she is unmarried.

Seeing her dream slipping away, Evelyn agrees to a marriage of convenience with a man she has secretly admired for years.

Will a tragedy on the trail bring them closer and will they finally admit their feelings for each other before it’s too late?

NOTE: The Oregon Trail was harsh and unforgiving. History shows that many suffered illness, injury and death. This story touches on the death of an infant at birth and the terrible tragedy that followed which is loosely based on a true incident.
