The Outrider

(2007)
A novel by

Dan Featherskill is a plainsman and a gunslinger for hire.
But recovering from a recent fistfight, he is no hurry to find employment,
especially when he is approached to protect a wagon train heading west.
The rumors of raiders and Comancheros on the trail seem to make his
decision even easier. However, after receiving anonymous threats demanding
that he stay off the trail, he changes his mind; Featherskill is never one
to back down from a challenge.

Unfortunately, the travelers he has been hired to protect turn out to be
less reliable and more dangerous than expected. And when a group of
raiders attacks the wagons, Featherskill finds himself caught in the
crosshairs of thieves, outlaws, and connivers, all intent on ridding
themselves of him and stopping the wagons. Now, Featherskill must rely on
his wits and his guns in a game that he is forced to play to the deadly
end.
