Kingsbridge, 1940

Lucy Brooks is the proprietor of the local tea shop, Thyme for Tea. Her easy routine is disrupted when evacuee children from Bristol arrive during a mass evacuation as the English government scrambles to respond to the threat of German bombs.
Happy to do her part in the war effort, she opens her shop to welcome the newcomers until they can be placed with various families.

Some of the townfolk are less than thrilled with the new arrivals and when a body of a longtime resident is found, the rumor mill explodes with theories and supposition. Lucy finds herself in the unlikely spot of solving a murder that threatens to further disrupt the tentative peace of the English countryside.

Can she solve the murder and restore some semblance of peace to her town, her patrons, and the newest, most helpless residents of Kingsbridge?
