Everyone in Chilmore thinks the local hockey star and I have been in love since high school. They’re only half right.

Nate Hargrove is my best friend.

He remembers every disastrous boyfriend I’ve dated, he comes home every Christmas no matter which professional hockey team currently owns his schedule, and he also flirts with me constantly.

That means nothing. The man flirts with the furniture.

But after my most recent festive breakup became town folklore last year, I swore off dating, sex and men for one year. I told myself I only need to survive one Christmas to defeat the curse and prove I can make it through the holidays without romantic humiliation.

Then Nate calls me his girlfriend at the Mistletoe Resort Gala.

Before I can correct him, he kisses me.

Now half the town is celebrating, the other half is waiting for him to dump me, and the resort’s sponsors want Chilmore’s hometown hockey hero and his childhood sweetheart at every festive event they can invent.

So Nate and I make a deal.

We fake-date until Christmas ends.

It should be effortless. We already know everything about each other.

Except I don’t know how good his hands feel wrapped around me.

I don’t know why the confident hockey player who has dated countless beautiful women looks ready to lose control whenever I remove my clothes.

And I definitely don’t know what to do when Nate offers to end my year-long sex drought with no expectations attached.

Soon we’re kissing without an audience, sleeping together without sensible rules and discovering that we’re alarmingly good at being a couple.

But Nate’s NHL career has always carried him away from me.

So am I just becoming the next thing he leaves behind?

Holiday Hat Trick is a feel-good, high-spice Christmas hockey romcom featuring friends to lovers, fake dating, a curvy heroine, an obsessed NHL star, meddling small-town locals and one shameless grandmother who has been waiting years for them to start ‘rumping.’
