The Holiday Cottages are magical places, where those who come to Sprucewood, Colorado, to “get away” find themselves and their hopes renewed, relationships kindled, and dreams coming true.
Samantha Calloway has to deliver one item from her great-aunt’s estate before she can move on to her new life in sunny California and never has to live through a New England winter again. All she has to do is meet up with Dawson Montgomery and personally hand him the matching teapot his grandfather gave Aunt Tilly many years ago. After Samantha fulfills her great-aunt’s last wish, the estate lawyer will release the money promised to Samantha. There was just one problem: Dawson Montgomery has a stipulation of his own. He refuses to take the teapot until they’ve gone on three dates. Samantha soon realizes she may be staying at Cranberry Cottage longer than she thought.
Dawson Montgomery spent most of his summers growing up Colorado with his grandparents. After he decided to follow up in his grandfather’s footsteps as a stained glass artist, he decided to move to Colorado to live near and watch over is grandfather. It wasn’t until he heard a soft voice on the other end of the phone asking for his grandfather that Dawson found out about grandfather’s one summer with Tilly St. James. His grandfather told him of the magical two dates they had before his unit was suddenly called to war. In his stead, he’d left a matching teapot the shopkeeper said that if reunited with its mate, would bind them together forever. If only he’d had the third date, he was sure Tilly would be his today. With his grandfather’s words in mind, Dawson agreed to meet with Samantha with one caveat: he would have the third date his grandfather never got. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen? It wasn’t like the story was true.
