My new neighbor hates me.

To be fair, moving in and immediately rattling our shared wall with an electric guitar probably wasn’t the smartest introduction.

Ruby Cole is tiny, redheaded, covered in colorful tattoos and enough silver jewelry to catch the light every time she moves. The first time she storms over in head-to-toe black with those green eyes flashing, she looks like a seriously pissed-off fairy.

I probably shouldn’t find that hot as hell, but I do.

Ruby gives as good as she gets, and our ridiculous neighbor war quickly becomes the best part of coming home. Then she puts a tattoo needle to my skin, and things start getting complicated.

She’s talented as hell, funny when she forgets to guard herself, and somehow understands my music better than people who’ve known me for years. She takes six months of memories from Hollow North’s European tour and finds the one moment I never want to forget, turning it into something permanent.

Eventually our neighbor war moves from the wall to her bed. We tell ourselves it can stay casual.

It doesn’t.

Soon she’s spending more nights in my bed than her own, fitting into my family, creating the artwork for Hollow North’s new album, and inspiring songs I’m not ready to admit are about her.

Then the biggest tour opportunity of my career lands in my lap. Months on the road. Bigger stages. The opportunity I’ve spent years working toward.

I’m going.

I just never expected there to be someone I’d miss this much when I do.
