The Last Stand has fled to a new galaxy, hoping to keep ahead of the task force sent to hunt them down.
This could be a chance for a new start, something Lana hopes for as she settles into her fledgling relationship with Dax, the ship's gunner. But whatever she may want, Captain Aiden Thorne seems determined to continue his one ship war against the Deconstructionist Movement, raiding their vessels and facilities and challenging their ironclad rule over the universe. First, however, he needs to gather information and make contacts in a new and unfamiliar place, starting with one of his old friends.

To further complicate matters, trouble may have followed them from their old stomping grounds. The Deeks have moved against HumanAssist Enterprises, the mega-corporation responsible for creating Aiden's prototype adult companion, Ali. That war may be less one-sided than they believe, and threatens to engulf the entire universe in even greater chaos, dragging the Last Stand right into the middle of it.
